Mt. Hamilton Ranch Road

Mt. Hamilton is a 4000 foot peak overlooking Silicon Valley in California. It is known for it's classic California oak and digger pine forests as well as a world famous observatory. The backside or eastern side of the mountain and adjacent hills and valleys encompass miles of sprawling ranch lands where cowboys still herd cattle on horseback. In June of 2015 I took a long drive from San Jose, up and over the mountain, following the old Mines Road all the way to the city of Livermore. This painting derives from a photo I took along the way.
