Swimming Hole Trees

Sometimes when plein air painting, I immediately see something that captivates me and  know that I have to paint it right then. In this case, it was the brilliant green of the translucent tree leaves and the deeper green of the water of Spanish Creek. Very quickly after I started this painting, the swimming hole did its duty as host to several splashing boys who braved its chilly waters to cool off in the hot, Sierra afternoon. Framed.
