Paddling Elkhorn Slough

As a sea kayaker, I've paddled in this exact spot. So where are you? You're in Elkhorn Slough by Moss Landing CA. You've just passed under the bridge and are returning to where you started earlier in the day from Kirby Park. The tide is with you, giving you a gentle push and the ocean breeze is barely stirring, allowing the fog to re-form high overhead, where it catches the late afternoon light. 

   This is a real place and I encourage everyone to visit. You can do it on foot at the nature center, take a docent lead tour, or rent a kayak from either of the two outfitters on Highway One. You will see sea lions, sea otters, and birds too numerous to count. When you're done, great eats can be had from a couple different restaurants at the Moss Landing Marina nearby.
